Hurricane Ike was 14 months ago...are insurance companies holding out on property owners? It's been 14 months since Ike and hundreds if not thousands of properties still haven't recovered and been restored to their condition prior to the storm. In December of 2009, I toured Hurricane Ike damaged properties in Galveston, Harris, Ft. Bend, Waller and Montgomery County with my associate Clarence. He helps commercial property owners work with public insurance adjusters so they can once and for all settle on a fair recovery amount the owner deserves. The damage from Hurricane Ike in many of these areas is still very substantial and it seems like a lot of insurance companies are either "holding out" or "short changing" policy holders. I personally know several owners that were told by their insurance companies that their damage wasn't enough to substantiate them paying their deductible which later turned out to be false information. Think about it, the insurance companies send their adjusters which is a conflict of interest, to pay out as little as possible and stretch out any payment as long as possible. The insurance companies game is complicated. They have the numbers in people and money to push the little guy until you just give up. Commercial property owners who are still suffering may want to consider hiring a reputable public insurance adjuster to help them settle a claim.
